Microsoft has teamed up with HP to set up a technology center in Taiwan, in a bid to advance the
IT capabilities of its Taiwanese business partners and corporate clients.
According to a Microsoft press release, the new center, which will be called Microsoft & HP Solution Centers in Taiwan, specifically aims to help Microsoft and HP's partners to upgrade their technology with HP hardware and Microsoft solutions such as UC & C (Unified Communications and Collaboration), Business Intelligence, and Windows Server 2008.
The center could create up to
NTD 2.5 billion in value within the next five years, says Microsoft.
The center is the latest development in the long-running partnership between the two companies, with HP as Taiwan's leading brand in the server hardware market, and Microsoft looking to increase its market share in Taiwan with its server operating system, Windows Server 2008.
Through the Microsoft Technology Center (MTC), Microsoft provides assistance to 30 independent software vendors, or ISVs, including Systex, Ares, Data Systems, and Metaedge Corp, said Jason Ma, Director of the MTC. With the new center, Microsoft expects to help 60 ISVs to upgrade to Server 2008, he said.
The two companies are optimistic about the Taiwan technology industry's "soft power", said John Knutsen, director of Global Microsoft Technology Center.
