The US business software solutions provider Oracle sees business opportunities in Taiwan with the return of Taishang – Taiwanese companies operating abroad – to Taiwan, says the company's executive in Taiwan.
IT investment in Taiwan will grow as more Taishang return to invest in Taiwan, noted Gary Wu, Managing Director of Oracle Taiwan Inc. And in light of the new policy changes in store with Taiwan's recent presidential election, "Oracle is ready," Wu said.
According to Wu, the opportunities for Oracle lie in providing
IT solutions to returning Taiwanese companies. In particular, Oracle is looking at companies that plan to be listed on Taiwan's stock exchange and need to upgrade their
IT infrastructure to meet the requirements for listed companies.
Moreover, the demand for
IT infrastructure and services will extend beyond the high-tech industry to domestic industries such as construction and services, said Wu.
Over the past three years, Oracle's product lines have continued to expand, with Oracle's acquisition of over 40 companies, most recently, BEA Systems. Oracle's application software revenues in Q2 have grown 63% year-on-year.
In a recent Economic Daily News report, Wu touted Oracle's top services and support from its global team. He cited Taiwanese computer giant Acer's smooth acquisition of major PC manufacturers Gateway and Packard Bell – because both of these companies used Oracle solutions, there was no need for "transfers" of any kind.
