MOEA sets aside NTD 10 million in technology assistance for Taishang returning from China

March 17, 2008

In a bid to encourage Taiwan businesses in China to return to Taiwan, the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) has allotted NTD 10 million in technology subsidies, according to an announcement by Minister of Economic Affairs Steve Chen.

The allotted funds will be drawn from the MOEA's Immediate Technology Assistance Program for SMEs, and is aimed at Taishang – Taiwan businesses abroad – in China.

The funds are intended to help these companies 'upgrade' with technology-based assistance from the program.

In addition, the application process will be simplified for Taishang that are returning from China, and do not have company registration. Under this process, a company can directly apply for technology subsidies. Upon passing an MOEA review, the company can receive its company registration by simply completing the subsidy application process.

The MOEA suggests that interested applicants provide a full explanation of their overseas R&D capabilities, so as to help with the review process.
