Hsinchu Science Park earnings for Q1-Q3 grow 11.27%

The Hsinchu Science Park (HSP), Taiwan's largest hi-tech industry area, posted total revenues of NTD 471.623 billion for the first three quarters of the year. This represented year-on-year growth of 11.27%.

Optoelectronics exports at HSP rose once again in Sept, reaching NTD 26.6 billion, which represented 1.88% growth over Aug. All other sectors, including IC circuits, computer and peripherals, IT, precision machinery, and biotechnology, saw a decline. Total Sept exports at the HSP grew 2.13% over Aug., reaching NTD 60.752 billion, and showing year-on-year growth of 12.6%.

According to statistics from the HSP Administration, companies at the park exported NTD 180.415 billion worth of goods in Q3, a 16.21% increase over Q2. This figure also represents a 19.98% increase over the previous year. Optoelectronics showed the highest growth in exports, totaling NTD 75.171 billion, representing growth of 35.85% over the last quarter. The IC circuit industry showed the second highest growth at 6.83%, posting exports worth NTD 83.292 billion.

For the first three quarters of the year, the IC circuit industry was still the park's biggest earner for exports, posting NTD 235.765 billion – but decreased 7.49% year-on-year. Optoelectronics exports in Q3 for the period, which were worth NTD 169.8 billion, grew by 83.06%.

In the optoelectronics field, flat panel displays showed impressive growth during Q1 to Q3, with exports totaling NTD 155.908 – a 97.5% increase over last year. Following optoelectronics was the chip manufacturing industry, of which exports totaled NTD 145.074 billion for the Q1 to Q3 period.
