The Central Taiwan Science Park's (CTSP) Huwei base is nearly at full capacity, with only 12 hectares of land available to manufacturers for rent, according to an Economic Daily News report.
With the presence of the neighboring National Taiwan University Hospital Yun-Lin Branch and the Yunlin Station of the Taiwan High Speed Rail, manufacturers have shown an increasing desire to enter the Huwei base, said the CTSP Administration Office.
Prominent companies at the Huwei base include Japanese company JSP, the Japanese TFT-LCD materials manufacturer, and Mosa Industrial Corporation, Taiwan's only producer of cylinders for automotive airbags. Two Taiwanese biotech companies, Baolin and Ducray, are slated to begin factory construction at Huwei in October.
In addition, the National Yunlin University of Science and Technology and the National Formosa University Incubation Center plan to enter the park in Sept, which will strengthen their cooperation with manufacturers, said CTSP officials.
CTSP Huwei base, located in Huwei Township, Yunlin County in Central Taiwan, is watching a strong industrial base grow. In addition to the NTU hospital branch and the high speed rail station, a number of industrial areas lie to the west of the Huwei base, including the Formosa Plastics' Sixth Naptha Cracker and the Kuokuang Petrochemical plant. With convenient transportation access available, this industrial base will help with the development of the Huwei base, said the officials.
