IBM Taiwan and the Institute for the Information Industry (III) have announced a cooperative endeavor to form the SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) Innovation Center, in a bid to strengthen the nation's software development industry.
SOA is a primary development area for IBM, which has produced 4,500 successful applications and has over 3,600 partners all over the world, said Beth Demeke, IBM's Vice President in charge of Software Group in Greater China.
The new center was born out of IBM's Open Partner Center in Taiwan, according to IBM Taiwan. In cooperation with III, IBM will provide software and hardware support to Taiwan software developers to develop and test SOA solutions at the lowest possible cost.
IBM said that the SOA Center will connect clients and cooperative partners by holding seminars and technology lectures, and by offering technology and business consulting through SOA solutions.
Current IBM SOA clients in Taiwan include Chunghwa Telecom and Hua Nan Bank. The SOA Center will be run jointly by IBM and III.
