The Ministry of Economic Affairs (
MOEA) is implementing a new program granting a total of
NTD 150 million in technology subsidies for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the manufacturing and services sectors.
The new program, entitled the "Immediate Technology Assistance Program for SMEs", is designed to carry out the Executive Yuan's official policies on SME development, and is expected to benefit over 600 companies. Under the program, an SME may apply to receive subsidies to upgrade or convert technologies currently in use.
The subsidies will be passed on through 16 organizations, which include the Industrial Technology Research Instiute, the Institute for the Information Industry, the Metal Industries Research and Development Center, and the Cycling and Health Tech Industry
R&D Center.
These organizations will in turn provide assistance to recipients in the areas of
R&D, design, production, fabrication, logistics, and computerization. Each recipient can receive subsidies up to
NTD 250,000, and will only need to match 10% of the total cost of the project.
Eligible applicants for subsidies include manufacturing companies whose capital is below
NTD 80 million, or employs 200 persons or less, as well as service companies whose revenue for the previous year was
NTD 1 million or below, or employs 50 persons or less.
The
MOEA said that this program is expected to increase industry output by around
NTD 1.3 billion, and lower production or operations costs by
NTD 650 million.
