Fujitsu is cooperating with a number of Taiwan manufacturers to develop business opportunities in security monitoring systems, according to a recent announcement made by the company.
The security system is being manufactured by Taiwanese companies including TySoft, Taiwan Jantek Electronics, and Gauss Computer, and use Fujitsu's palm vein authentication technology.
The partnership is an additional boost to Fujitsu's existing business relationship with Taiwan OEMs. The company has procured approximately 46 billion yen (
NTD 15 billion) per year of "barebones" notebook computers from Taiwan manufacturers.
Fujitsu's palm recognition technology for monitoring systems, which incorporates RFID technology, can be expanded for applications such as customs and passport control, ATMs, and building securiry at large high-tech buildings, said Kevin Liu, CEO of Fujitsu Taiwan.
As palm veins cannot be duplicated, the technology serves a very high practical utility, he said. With this technology, Fujitsu has been able to corner 29% of the Japanese market in three years, according to Liu.
Fujitsu and its Taiwan partners have already started to export products employing palm recognition technology to Singapore, to great success, and is now developing the Taiwan market. This will be a motivating force for the growth of Fujitsu Taiwan's operations, said Liu.
