The Taoyuan County Government recently launched a new organization devoted to assisting industries and businesses in reducing industrial pollution.
The Taoyuan County Environmental Technologies Services Group is a cooperation platform that aims to bridge industry, government, and academia, and serve as a consultant and guide to companies working to reduce pollution.
The group's strategy is to implement "vigilant checks" and meting "strict penalties" to polluting companies, while supporting companies that engage in environmental protection.
Taoyuan County Commissioner Chu Li-lun said that the goal of the group is to guide local companies in preventing pollution, to reduce air pollutant emissions and to work towards environmental protection around the world.
A number of environmental experts from local universities have joined the group, which will be lead by Professor Tseng Dyi-hwa of the Environmental Engineering Department at National Central University.
The group will also offer
NTD 2 million in reward incentives to the top five companies that show an effort in reducing environmental pollution. Companies can apply for consideration until May 31.
