Taiwan forex reserves break record once again at year's end

January 25, 2007

Taiwan's foreign exchange reserves totaled USD 266.1 billion in Dec. 2006, reaching another record high, according to the Central Bank of China. The Dec. figure represents an over USD 1 billion increase over Nov., which previously saw a record high.

Taiwan has the third highest foreign exchange reserves in the world after China and Japan.

The increase is attributed to profits derived from foreign exchange investments, said the Central Bank.
