Taiwan's green energy industry continues to grow and make new breakthroughs, as the Taichung-based company Tingyou recently announced the successful completion of its "superconducting energy-efficiency system".
The system extracts extracts thermal energy from air or water, and simultaneously produces hot water and cold water and air, functioning both as a hot water heater and air conditioning system.
The system is currently being used at the Zhongxing swimming pool and Tai-an Elementary School, both located in Taichung, and uses about 1/4 the energy of a traditional electric water heater, said Jhang Shun-jhi, head
R&D engineer at Tingyou.
For this project, Tingyou collaborated with noted researcher Wu Yi-long of Hengdian Energy Consulting. The Tingyou system , which can produce hot water to generate electricity, could be a breakthrough in the green technologies, given its ability to produce electricity in low-temperature environments.
Upon completion, it would be the world's first system to immediately produce hot water while automatically operating an energy-efficient electricity generation system.
Tingyou, formerly known as Xunfeng Technology, was formed in 2004. The "superconducting energy-efficiency system" is the company's first successful product.
