The Industrial Research Technology Institute, Mackay Memorial Hospital, and Far Glory Group are working together on a project providing infrastructure for "long-distance health care" in residential communities.
The project was jointly announced by the three participants as the "Long Distance Health Care Model Project", which will undergo a preliminary trial by at least 1,000 residents in Linkou, a small town outside of Taipei.
Far Glory has worked with
ITRI to develop a technology platform, in which residents use provided devices at home to submit personal health data via an optic fiber network. The data is routed from
ITRI's residential health management system to MacKay personnel, who then give health consultations to residents via
email or telephone. The devices used by residents provide information and data on blood oxygen, cardiographic readings, blood sugar, peak expiratory flow (the rate of exhaled breaths), blood pressure, and body temperature.
The cost of the equipment in residential areas for the project amounts to
NTD 100 million, according to Far Glory Chairman Chao Teng-hsing.
