Novatek received orders from Nokia in the earlier part of this year for driver ICs for mobile phone screens, according to a report in the Economic Daily News.
Novatek will ship the orders at the end of Q3, and next year, monthly output will range from 3 to 4 million units a month. Analysts have said that small driver ICs will make up 7% of Novatek's revenues, and next year it could rise between 12% and 15%, making its product line even more complete.
The report also said that Novak cooperated with AUO to supply small screen driver ICs to South Korea's Leadis, and that by the end of Q3, Novatek's output of small driver ICs could surpass 10 million units. In addition, the company received a large order for MP3 players from a number of major international manufacturers, which will be shipped in Q4. The company expects continue to receive orders from other major manufacturers next year.
A spokesperson from the company said that a fall in profits for large size screens have been compensated for with increased orders in small-sized screens.
