Foreign direct investment in Taiwan totaled
USD 899 million, a 280% increase from one year ago, according to statistics from the Investment Commission.
In a recent statement, the Investment Commission said aggregate FDI jumped 582% to
USD 6.84 billion after combining foreign fund inflows in the first five months of 2006.
The top contributors to FDI include the Netherlands, Singapore, the Cayman Islands and British Virgin Islands, the US and Japan, with funds mainly focused on electronic components, banking, technology services, and retail, according to the Commission report.
