Sales and business revenues rose across the board in March, according to figures released by the Ministry of Economic Affairs (
MOEA).
In March, the wholesale, retail, and bar and restaurant industries combined showed a 5.42% over March last year. The three industries showed a 6.87% on-year rise from March 2005, with earnings totaling
NTD 2.67 trillion in Q1 2006. The wholesale industry showed a 7.21% yearly increase in sales from March 2005, while the retail industry and bar and restaurant industries showed increases of 7.21% and 5.33% on last year, respectively.
Hired services totaled
NTD 4.5 billion in March, an 18.11% increase over March 2005. Of all hired services, transport rentals saw the largest increase, at 28.48%. From January to March, hired services totaled
NTD 13.8 billion, a 12.66% increase over the same period last year. The
MOEA noted that transport services have seen rapid growth this year, totaling
NTD 1.4 billion in March, a 28.48% increase over the same month last year. Also in March, hired goods totaled
NTD 2.1 billion, rising 14.88% over March 2005. Machinery and equipment rental also rose 13.67% with a volume of
NTD 1 billion.
Professional and technical services recorded earnings of
NTD 38.9 billion in March, a 9.78% increase from March 2005. Of these services, data processing and data provision services saw the biggest increase, at 26.91%, while specialized design services increased 12.79%. From January to March, professional and technical services posted
NTD 10.92 billion in earnings, an 8.99% increase over the same period last year. Of these, data processing and data provision services saw the biggest increase at 13.10% over the same period last year. Advertising also rose 10.03%.
