MOF: Exports Reach New High in April

Taiwan exports rose to a record high in April, riding on a strong electronics demand from Hong Kong, China, South Korea, and the US, said the Ministry of Finance in a recent statement.

Exports totaled a record USD 18.8 billion, an increase of 15% -- notably higher than the 8.9% forecast by a Dow Jones Newswires survey of economists. The previous record was in October 2005 at a total of USD 18.792 billion
