Nikon opens technology R&D service center in STSP

March 1, 2006

Japan's Nikon, looking to grab some of the business supplying Chi Mei Optoelectronics' 7.5-generation flat panel display plant, in early February established a technology research and development service center in the Southern Taiwan Science Park. This is another sign that the global panel industry has recognized the significance of the investment scale and development potential of the STSP.

Nikon, the world's leading supplier of exposure machines for the manufacture of LCD panels, is not the only foreign enterprise to set up operations in the science park. Fourteen other Japanese companies, including major LCD equipment suppliers ULVAC and Daifuku, have already moved into the park.
