Due to improvements in the global economy in the second half of the year, Taiwan's overseas orders rose 19.2% to a total of
USD 256.39 billion in 2005, according to statistics released by the
MOEA at the end of January. The ministry predicts that the nation's overseas orders will continue to post double-digit growth figures in the first half of the year.
Electronics and information and communications technology products remain Taiwan's most popular export products. For all of 2005, orders for electronics increased 21.6% on the year to
USD 57.19 billion, while orders for ICT products rose 24.52% to
USD 50.17 billion.
The
USD 24.59 billion in overseas orders in December created the third highest single-month figure for overseas orders ever recorded in Taiwan.
