Taiwan's overseas orders up 19.2% to USD 256.39 billion in 2005

February 16, 2006

Due to improvements in the global economy in the second half of the year, Taiwan's overseas orders rose 19.2% to a total of USD 256.39 billion in 2005, according to statistics released by the MOEA at the end of January. The ministry predicts that the nation's overseas orders will continue to post double-digit growth figures in the first half of the year.

Electronics and information and communications technology products remain Taiwan's most popular export products. For all of 2005, orders for electronics increased 21.6% on the year to USD 57.19 billion, while orders for ICT products rose 24.52% to USD 50.17 billion.

The USD 24.59 billion in overseas orders in December created the third highest single-month figure for overseas orders ever recorded in Taiwan.
