Taiwan's market for enterprise resource management software generated revenues of
USD 21.1 million in the first half of the year, according to a report by International Data Corporation. This value is 25% greater than that for the first half of 2004.
The main sources of growth in this market are large enterprises upgrading old systems and purchases of new systems by small and medium enterprises.
IDC reports that financial applications account for 25.6%, the largest percentage, of the commercial software market in Taiwan. Assets management and salary management systems account for the second and third biggest portions of this market, at 18.4% and 16.2% respectively. As for industry sectors, assembly and process manufacturing enterprises account for a total of 62.l4% of Taiwan commercial software purchases.
IDC predicts that, with an expected 4.9% compound annual growth rate in this market, commercial software will produce annual revenues of
USD 52.9 million by 2009.
