International drug and beauty products retailer Watsons has spent over a year designing its new color-coded global corporate identification system. In line with instructions from headquarters, Watsons Taiwan is spending
NTD 1 billion to redesign all 343 of its outlets in accordance with the new system by the end of the year.
The new CIS will mark the introduction of Watsons' fourth generation stores in Taiwan. Watsons Taiwan's third generation outlets were first opened in October 2004.
Watsons' new CIS is designed around four colors, each representing a specific product category or service. Pink will demarcate the cosmetics area, the healthcare products section will be colored blue, yellow will be the color of the general fun products area, and service counters will be blue-green.
Watsons Taiwan has set a target of boosting its number of shops to 400 in all by the end of 2005. Currently around 55 stores from its goal, the retailer is expected to have no problem reaching its target on schedule. In order to not interrupt sales at existing stores, interior design and construction work for the new CIS will be carried out at night after business hours.
