Overseas orders for Taiwanese products rose 16.7% on the year to
USD 20.65 billion in June, the third highest value ever recorded for June, according to figures released by the
MOEA. In June, overseas orders for electronics and electromechanical products hit record highs of
USD 4.61 billion and
USD 1.14 billion respectively, the highest single-month values ever recorded for these product categories.
In the first half of the year, overseas orders have risen 17.44% on the year to
USD 116.5 billion.
An
MOEA survey of domestic enterprises shows that 22.75% say they expect their overseas orders to increase from June to July; 26.9% expect orders to decline and 50.35% anticipate orders will remain stable.
The
MOEA predicts that, despite high global oil prices, minor increases in interest rates in the United States, and the macroeconomic management underway in China, better-than-expected economic growth in the US and China will continue to stimulate growth in overseas orders for Taiwan, especially for electronics, information technology and telecommunications products.
