Taiwan's information technology services market brought in total revenues of
NTD 58.1 billion for the year 2004, according to International Data Corporation. The market intelligence firm says that new-generation core systems for banks will be a major source of revenues in this sector over the coming five years.
IDC reports that, in the second half of 2004, the
IT services market in Taiwan reached a scale of
NTD 31.5 billion. About 44% of this value, totaling
NTD 13.8 billion, came from technological product services, 34%, or
NTD 10.8 billion, was generated by
IT consulting and systems integration, and
IT outsourcing services made up the remaining 22%, or
NTD 6.9 billion.
The
IT consultancy notes that the global
IT services market is highly competitive. In the systems integration sector, it suggests targeting small and medium enterprises, which have simpler systems that require lower costs to set up, because the market for enterprise resource planning systems and supply chain management systems big manufacturing enterprises already reached a point of saturation.
The firm points out that foreign
IT services companies have gradually introduced the new generation of banking systems in Taiwan. Predicting that this will be an important sector of this market over the next five years, it estimates the size of the projects will range from
NTD 300 million to
NTD 2 billion depending on the volume of business conducted by the financial institutions.
