Taiwan's central bank, the Central Bank of China, reports that as of the end of April there were over 1.3 million domestic time deposit savings accounts holding
NTD 1 million of more.
The central bank also points out that a total of
NTD 1.13 trillion is deposited in time deposit savings accounts of one year or longer. Taiwan has 276,000 such long-term accounts, making these the most popular form of time deposit savings accounts here. Mid-term accounts of nine months to one year are the least popular, with only 55,000 such accounts holding a combined
NTD 90.6 billion.
All told, there are a total of 7.17 million time deposit accounts of two years or less, 1.12 million ranging from two to three years, and 560,000 of three years or more, according to the CBC.
