The
MOEA Department of Industrial Technology has decided to extend subsidies to two industry-proposed programs that aim to enhance the abilities of Taiwan's golf equipment industry to fill custom orders and make industry upgrades.
Fu Sheng Industrial Co., the largest golf club head manufacturer in the world, says its Global Golf Equipment Innovation and Design Center is intended to improve the company's ability to manufacture high precision, high quality products. Fu Sheng makes golf club heads on a contract manufacturing basis for most of the world's top golf brands.
The I-Design Golf Equipment Cooperative Design and Development Plan proposed by Advanced International Multitech Co., another major Taiwanese golf equipment maker, will strengthen the company's custom design manufacturing services. The plan also includes a system for golf club shaft diagnosis and the analysis of market data.
DOIT points out that Taiwan is the world's largest exporter of golf equipment, exporting an average of
NTD 10 billion in golfing products annually. The department says that it expects these subsidies to boost the quality and value of Taiwan's golf equipment and help the industry continue its transformation from original equipment manufacturing (OEM) to original design manufacturing (ODM), which achieves higher value through
R&D and innovation.
