The issuance of silicon chip credit cards has led to some great results in Taiwan.
According to Visa International, the volume of illegal credit card transaction fell to 0.04% of all transactions as of the end of 2004. This is 83% lower than the record-high level of 0.34% posted in 2000.
This 0.04% rate means that for every
NTD 10,000 charged to credit cards in Taiwan, just
NTD 4 is from illegal transactions, far better than the equivalent of
NTD 7 for the Asia Pacific region and
NTD 9 globally.
