Yamaha KHS Music Co. opened the Yamaha Artist Services Center in Taipei in late April. Taiwan's Yamaha representative says that it expects the center to help boost its revenues by 5% from
NTD 2 billion to
NTD 2.1 billion this year.
The center is the fourth of its kind in the world, with other centers established in Tokyo, Paris and New York. It provides world-class rehearsal and performance facilities, which include the flagship Yamaha CFIIIS Concert Grand Piano.
Yamaha KHS Music Co. is the general representative for Yamaha music products in Taiwan. Jointly established by Yamaha Japan and Taiwan KHS Trading Co. with
NTD 100 million in capital in 1997, it is in charge of the import and sales of Yamaha musical instruments, music education materials and PA products, as well as the sales of mobile phone ring tones. The music company has over 500 sales centers around Taiwan, with more than 80 of these offering pianos.
Pianos, both traditional and electric, are Yamaha KHS Music's biggest money maker, generating 35% of the company's annual revenues. Despite Taiwan's relatively small population of 23 million, 20,000 Yamaha pianos are sold in Taiwan each year, making it Yamaha's third largest market in Asia, behind Japan and China.
Also, in recent years, revenues from mobile phone ring tones have experienced rapid growth, exceeding
NTD 100 million in 2004.
