Enterprises listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange raised capital totaling
NTD 15.339 billion in the first quarter, according to the Taiwan Stock Exchange. This figure is 2.22 times greater than the
NTD 4.755 billion raised in the same period last year.
Financial companies, as a class, were most active, raising a combined
NTD 12.04 billion, while steel makers raised the second largest value at
NTD 2.551 billion.
Cash capital increases accounted for nearly all capital raised by TAIEX companies in first quarter, totaling
NTD 14.591 billion. This is 3.6 times more than the
NTD 3.17 billion in cash capital increases in the first quarter of 2004.
