February 28, 2005

China Motor Corp. and Chrysler are considering establishing a new company to run Chrysler operation here in Taiwan. The two sides have already reached an agreement in which CMC will manufacture Chrysler's Town and Country van in Taiwan. This domestic Chrysler is set to roll off CMC's production lines in April 2006. CMC has set an annual sales goal of 5,000 Town and Country for its first year of sales.

It is reported that if CMC is able to produce a low-priced, high-quality vehicle, Chrysler may expand the range of its cooperation agreement with CMC. This could include a deal to produce more cars and vans here in Taiwan.
