Taiwan's overseas orders reached their second highest single-month level ever in November. Ministry of Economic Affairs statistics show that overseas orders for Taiwanese goods grew 30.11% on the year to
USD 19.75 billion in November. November's performance could have ranked first if it were not that the highest single-month figure was achieved in October, with orders in excess of
USD 20 billion.
With Taiwan's overseas orders for the first eleven months of the year already totaling
USD 195.29 billion, the
MOEA predicts that this year's annual sum will surpass
USD 200 billion and set a new annual record.
MOEA analysts attribute November's remarkable performance to the sales atmosphere created by Taipei Information Month and the Christmas buying season in the United States and Europe. High steel prices also helped boost the value of Taiwan's overseas orders.
As would be expected, most orders in November were for information technology and telecommunications products and electronic goods. Orders for precision machinery grew by 61.53%.
