Keelung Harbor Free Trade Zone Starts Operations in September
Keelung Harbor officially became Taiwan's first free trade zone at the end of September, loosening customs restrictions and granting tax breaks on processing and manufacturing within the zone. Li Ke-ming, Assistant Director of the Directorate-General of Customs, said Kaohsiung Harbor is set to become a free trade zone in January 2005, and that Taichung Harbor is currently in the application process.
