The Ministry of Economic Affairs recently approved the establishment of international logistics and distribution centers in Taiwan by Hitachi Global Storage Technology Singapore and Medion AG., boosting the number of such centers on the island to 10. The new facilities will engage in the sale of computer peripheral parts and components.
The MOEA reports that numerous other foreign companies have applied to set up similar centers on Taiwan to take advantage of the island's outstanding geographic location and strong logistics capabilities. The new applications are currently under evaluation.
Under current regulations, companies that establish international logistics and distribution centers in Taiwan are exempt from business income tax on income derived from the sale of goods originating abroad to customers in Taiwan.
