Intel, CGS International, Novell (Taiwan) and Oracle announced the establishment of a Linux cluster technology center in July. Intel says the center is designed to bring industry leaders together in order to provide new Linux-based solutions for the growing demand for Linux technology and product services.
Intel stresses that Linux's unique open source standards permit organizations to maintain their independence regarding the upgrading of software and hardware by avoiding being forced to make upgrades whenever new products are put on the market. Linux's high degree of expandability, stability and security allows businesses to enjoy cost savings that users of copyrighted software and hardware miss out on.
This new Linux center is based on the premises of Taiwan's CGS International, which provides new corporate-level Linux-based solutions. Intel says the center will provide corporate users with such services as technical support, simulations and testing, solution assessments and consulting.
