The telecommunications industry in Taiwan has seen significant changes under liberalization policies of the past few years. The changes have enabled Taiwan to meet its WTO commitments and continue industry development, most notably in e-commerce and third generation (3G) mobile telephone services, as well as the latest technologies of WiMAX (4G) and digital life (IPTV, intelligent living space). With high penetration rates in both the mobile phone and Internet markets, Taiwan today boasts a competitive business environment for both fixed network and value-added network carriers and service providers while providing high-quality services to consumers and businesses.
