Wages

Wages are set jointly by labor and management, and may not be lower than the base wage. The Labor Standards Law also stipulates:

  • Employers should pay employees twice per month unless the employee and employer have made other arrangements or the employee is paid a monthly salary.
  • Male and female workers must receive equal pay for equal work.
  • Overtime pay should be one-third to two-thirds above the standard wage.
  • Employees who agree to work on holidays should receive double pay.
