Annual Bonus
It is general practice for companies to give employee bonuses equivalent to one month's pay on the eve of the Lunar New Year holidays. Some companies give more depending on the profitability of business in the applicable year.
Leave
- Workers have the right to take one day off each week.
- Employees are entitled to leave on Labor Day and other national holidays stipulated by the government.
- Employees who have completed one full year of service are entitled to vacation time.
- Employers are obliged to grant female employees eight weeks of maternity leave, or four weeks of leave in the case of a miscarriage after three months or more of pregnancy. Female workers who have held their jobs for more than six months shall receive full pay while on leave. Those who have held their jobs for less than six months will receive half pay.
Annual paid leave is stipulated as follows:
- More than one year but less than three years of employment: 7 days
- Three or more years but less than five years of employment: 10 days
- Five or more years but less than ten years of employment: 14 days
- Ten or more years of employment: 14 days plus an additional day for every additional year, to a maximum of 30 days
- Paid leave for death in the family: 3-8 days, depending on worker's relationship to the deceased
- Paid leave for marriage: 8 days
Retirement
Standard payment of retirement pensions is as follows: two units per year for 15 years of service and one unit per year after 15 years, but with the total not exceeding 45 units. A unit of retirement payment is the employee's average monthly pay at the time of retirement.
